Utopian Brewing based in Bow Crediton, Devon are brewing, in our opinion, the best Lagers in the UK right now! Not only are Utopian's beers brewed with all British ingredients, they believe that sustainability is a core part of what it means to be a modern brewery, they don’t use single use plastics in their packaging, they generate their own nitrogen on site, and they naturally carbonate their beers to reduce carbon dioxide usage (which has the added benefit of improving mouthfeel!). It doesn't stop there with big future plans, including bio waste-water treatment and solar panels, all contributing to a long term ambition to become carbon neutral.
The old-world style Rotbier is Utopians homage to the Franconian Amber lagers brewed since 1500’s. They use a traditional double decoction mash to develop rich, bready malt flavours beautifully balanced by a generous hopping with traditional British Fuggles hops. A deep Amber colour with a soft gentle pallet makes this a beer to be savoured and a perfect beer to celebrate their 4th anniversary.
